In late 2024 a few of us were stuck in the same frustrating loop:

old articles claiming “Chiang Mai is $600/month forever” (spoiler: not anymore)

Instagram reels showing dream villas while ignoring $1,200 Canggu reality

route guides that forgot to mention the 2025 visa crackdown or the new high-speed train

So we started a private spreadsheet → turned into a shared Notion → turned into this site. No investors, no ads team, no SEO gurus. Just people who move every 3–12 months and hate wasting money or time.

How We Work

Every cost figure you see has been cross-checked by at least two people who lived in that city within the last 6–9 months.

We re-test internet speeds, co-working day-pass prices, Uber/Grab averages, and long-stay rental negotiations regularly.

When something breaks (new tax rule, massive rent spike, popular coworking closed), we update within weeks — not years.

We deliberately include the boring but important stuff: average electric bill with AC in summer, sim-card data packages that don’t throttle after 50 GB, realistic “walk score” for neighborhoods.

What We’re Not

We’re not travel influencers. You won’t find drone shots of sunsets or “day in my life” vlogs here.

We’re not selling anything — no courses, no lead magnets, no “join our paid community”.

Our Only Goal

To give you numbers and neighborhoods you can trust enough to book the ticket — or decide to skip the city altogether.
If we ever publish something that turns out wrong, tell us. We’ll fix it fast and credit you in the update note if you want.

NIKREM isn’t trying to be the biggest nomad site.
